Simple Business Tracker - Excel Template
An Excel-based business tracking system with invoicing, inventory, dashboarding, and reporting features for small businesses that need operational visibility without expensive software.
Overview
This project is built for small businesses that need better visibility into transactions, invoices, stock, and business health without jumping straight into complex software.
The system combines a simple invoicing workflow , linked operational sheets, and a dashboard layer so that everyday data entry feeds directly into reporting. Instead of keeping invoicing, inventory, and performance tracking scattered across separate files or manual summaries, this template brings them into one usable business system.
It also shows an approach I can reuse for clients who still rely heavily on Excel but need something much more structured, automated, and decision-friendly.

Business value
1. One system instead of scattered tracking
The template connects invoicing, transaction logging, inventory monitoring, and dashboard reporting so owners can run core processes from a single workbook.
2. Faster day-to-day operations
Non-technical users can create invoices, retrieve historical records, and update master data through a cleaner workflow instead of manually rebuilding the same work every time.
3. Better reporting visibility
Because transactions flow into structured sheets, the dashboard can surface KPIs, trends, and category-level views quickly. That gives a small business a clearer view of performance without needing a separate BI stack.
4. Easy to customise
This is not just a static spreadsheet. It is a starting point that can be adapted to different products, taxes, inventory rules, and reporting needs.
Key Features
- Intelligent dashboard: KPI cards plus interactive charts with slicers for filtering by category, time, and more.
- Simple invoicing workflow: A user-friendly form interface with dropdown-based product selection and automated tax/total calculations.
- Product and vendor master sheets: A cleaner mini-database structure for maintaining core business data.
- Live stock management: Inventory tracking with automated low-stock alerts and reorder visibility.
- Automated tax logic: Faster handling of tax tiers and summary reporting.

This kind of build is a good fit for businesses that still run heavily on spreadsheets but want stronger reporting, cleaner workflows, and a more reliable operational foundation before moving to a larger software stack.
